Here is the challenge that I shared today on Cookin up Creations for our Christmas in July weekend crop.
Today it is all about backgrounds. There is so much that you can do from painting to misting, doilys, dry wall tape, punches and Serendipity. I am going to show you a couple of things with the last two.
On my first example I used the hexagon punch. It seems to be popping up all over our pages. There are so many fun designs you can do with this. It is all in the placement, horizontal, vertical, diagonal. place a few or a lot, you be the judge.
On my serendipity example, first I tore up the pattern paper
then I glues the pieces to a piece of cardstock
Then I used it on my layout
With this technique once you have your pieces glued down you can do all sorts of shapes, use your punches and punch whatever you desire, mount sections on colored cardstock, anything you prefer.
Last year I showed everyone how to use dry wall tape to make a background, for those that didn't get to see that here is my example
Come join us at http://www.cookinupcreations.com/ for more fun and great challenges.
Have fun creating! and Merry Christmas layouts to you!!

Christmas in July Cookin up Creations Blog Hop
Welcome to the CHRISTMAS IN JULY blog hop, hosted by the Cookin' Up Creations Master Chef Challenge Team! Nothing brings me more joy than Christmas shopping year round. I am always thinking of what to give someone. I think you will agree that some of the projects here might help you with your Christmas gift giving this year. What greater treasure to give someone than something homemade from you especially for them. Relatives enjoy seeing themselves in action and you can bring someone lots of love with your crafting skills.
If you have been following the hop route, then you should have come from Sandy's blog http://creativeblessings.blogspot.com/ If not, and you would like to follow along the complete blog hop itinerary, please start at the Cookin' Up Creations Blog http://cookinupcreations.blogspot.com/ so you won't miss any of the fantastic projects and inspiration the "chefs" have cooked up for you.
I am so happy that you stopped by my blog. I have something fun to share with you. I found this 7 gypsies shadow box frame at Archivers a couple of weeks ago. I turned it into my lil Christmas in July project. Hope you like it! I started with the basic wooden frame with 9 squares.
I am also giving away a RAK, all you have to do if you choose is to leave a comment with your email address (so I can contact you). Receive an additional entry if you become a follower of my blog! My prize to you is a 12x12 Cherry limeade stack AND some 12x12 fabric paper. WooHoo!!
I am the last on your blog hop today. Thank you for stopping by! If you would like to revisit any of the others, here is the order.

I added some pattern paper to the edges and sanded it down.
then I placed photos on the back of it, so they show through the windows.
I added some embellishments and details of the event, then instead of placing it in a shadow box, I chose to keep it separate and display it on an easel.
Love the result!! My granddaughter was happily surprized when she walked into my scraproom Sunday and saw herself on display. Her face lit up with the cutest smile. Cookin up Creations Challenge Team
Made the challenge team at Cookin up Creations so I thought I would share.
My name is Tamara Reed. I live in South Jordan, Utah with my DH. We have been married for 34 years. We have two grown children and three darling grandchildren. I also work full time as a Dental Office Manager. Scrappping is my life so being here at Cookin' up Creations puts me right in my element. I Love everything here from the challenges to the people to the gallery of inspiration. I scrapbook chronologically, but branch out every now and then to create layouts of the grandchildren. If all my pages were in books there would be no room on the shelves in my house. LOL It is all of you that keeps my enthusiasm for scrapping going. Thank you to Shawn and Tammy for this awesome site. They are truly the greatest! Thanks for allowing me to be a small part of Cookin up Creations!
